London’s Best Food Markets

When it comes to food markets, the team here at Fiorelli know only the best. As self-confessed foodies, we love discovering London’s hidden gems.

If you’re looking for a cheap eat that not only takes care of your bank account, but your taste buds too, London has the answer.  From sit-down cafés to takeaway treats, we’ll let you in on our favourite food market hotspots.

Berwick Street Market
Located in the heart of Soho is Berwick Street market. The beauty of this market is that you can pick up lunch for about a fiver and wander on over to Soho Square to sit down and indulge. Mondays tend to be pretty quiet, so if it’s choice you’re after, it might be wise to visit this market from Tuesday onwards.

The selection changes on a daily basis so you’ll always find something new to try during your well-deserved lunch break. Whether you’re after a delicious baguette, a warming soup that’s bursting with flavour or super tasty noodle salads, Banhmi11 has it all. This much-loved Vietnamese market gives this cuisine its credit. Using only the finest ingredients, food at Banhmi11 is certain to send your tastebuds to heaven.

Let’s face it you can never go wrong with a pizza and the Pizza Pilgrim sure know how to make seriously sexy pizza. This family-run business operates from the back of a tiny Piaggia Ape three-wheeler. Brothers James and Thom Eliott bake perfect pizzas that’ll have you coming back for another slice.
Of course there are plenty of other food joints at Berwick Street Market but we’ve just given you a cheeky taster. Head over between 12 and 2 for lunch Monday to Friday and you won’t be disappointed.

Borough Market

So long as you don’t mind hustle and bustle at lunch time (you won’t want to head here if you’re after a peaceful lunch) Borough Market is a ‘must’. Why? It’s one of the best places in London to satisfy your tastebuds for less than a fiver. Whilst this market is pretty quiet Monday to Wednesday, it’s heaving by the time it gets to Thursday, and it only gets busier over the weekend!

Buzzing with both tourists and locals, Borough Market is not a place that lacks atmosphere; Foodies can’t get enough of this place. Be sure to queue up for a chorizo sandwich from Brindisha, a Spanish deli. Whilst you may have to queue for a while, it sure is worth it. A lightly toasted white roll generously filled with rich spicy chorizo, bitter rocket and sweet-sour piquillo peppers allows you to truly taste Spain in all its glory.

If you’re a veggie, or a lover of cheese, Bermondsey-based dairy and cheese maker Kappacasein is renowned for its scrumptious cheese toasties, and they’re not just your standard cheese toasties. Imagine montgomery cheddar married with leek, onion and garlic between two slices of sourdough bread…pretty dreamy, right? Well come along to Borough Market and dream no more.
