The Fiorelli Edit: What to Wear to the Races

The recent Cheltenham Ladies Day has got us thinking about what we’d choose to wear for a day at the races - any excuse for a shopping spree! From over the top hair fascinators to daring colour combinations, sporting events give women a rare opportunity to break fashion rules and get away with them.

So, with The Royal Ascot just around the corner, there’s no time like the present to start planning our extravagant ensembles. Join us as we prepare to dress for the races.

Colour Blocking

Colour blocking is one of the more daring fashion trends out there so a day at the races is an opportune time to flaunt the look. Sorbet shaded pastels coexist to create a feminine, high-class ensemble which will turn heads for all the right reasons.

The peplum top will flatter curvy figures while the heeled court shoes elongate the figure adding a touch of glamour. Complement the shoes by adding a matching hair fascinator and bring the look full circle with our very own Fiorelli Harper Bag, perfect for storing those travel size beauty essentials to keep you looking tip top throughout the day.

Lady in Red

If you’re not one for clashing prints and garish colours, stay classy in a pitch-perfect red dress. Figure hugging with a plunging neckline for a spritz of va-va-voom, this look-at-me dress has it all. Add a signature floral cap to give the ensemble a risqué edge; it’s a statement accessory but one which will work well in the race day environment.

Bold Brights

At every races' style parade you’ll find a selection of women who have taken bold dressing to the extreme. In fact, it’s not unusual to spota multi-coloured feather boa, larger than life hair fascinator and top to toe tweed all in one outfit. Give the more adventurous fashionistas a run for their money at the next race day with this striking outfit in limeade and coral.

Bold without looking overdone, bright without shocking the press, this demure pencil dress is oh-so covetable and perfectly matches the Fiorelli Dixie clutch. Soften the look up with a slick of mandarin lipstick and a coral fascinator.

Catwalk Trend: Monochrome

Here at Fiorelli HQ - we couldn't help but spot a bold trend emerging over the last few months: Monochrome. First seen at the Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer '14 show, here we were presented with a range of optical illusion style outfits from stripes, to checks and even  florals.

Although monochrome is real statement when worn head to toe, it's very wearable on accessories. We'd partner our Monochrome selection of bags with a little black dress and cream blazer for work, or work a bright dress with various monochrome accessories for an evening out.

From the Office to the Cocktail Bar: Transitional Beauty Tips

Mid-week Margaritas, after-work Appletini’s, cheeky liquid lunches…Women love cocktails and there’s just something about Monday to Friday deals coupled with the spring air which make it all the more tempting to indulge in a mid-week sip.

Sadly, as much as we love an impromptu Cosmo, a busy working week can make us feel under prepare,  and there’s nothing worse than turning up to a plush bar with oily hair or puffy eyes! That’s why we’re resolving to change our ways and get organised this spring. Follow our transitional styling tips and never turn down a Monday Mojito again!

Transitional Hair and Beauty

The idea of going for drinks on a non-hair washing day is enough to send some women into a state of panic, and for that there’s dry shampoo. Pop a travel size edition into a spacious handbag such as the Fiorelli Bronte Tote ready for a last minute spritz. For a quick and easy up-do grab some bobby pins, a hair tie and a high quality hairbrush such as the iconic Tangle Teezer. Tie hair in a high ponytail and then twist hair around into a bun, securing with bobby pins.

For the less spontaneous after work tipples, give your skin some VIP treatment the night before with a triple-action face mask. The Balance Me Radiance Face Mask is a cleansing, toning and brightening treatment which multi-tasks to leave skin feeling rejuvenated and fresh.
A good nail varnish and top coat will ideally last the week without chipping. Paint your nails with 2 coats of varnish and apply a top coat on Sunday night, and you should have salon certified nails from Monday to Friday.

Pack an after work makeup bag consisting of gel eyeliner, statement lipstick and a pressed powder- these are the Holy Grail products which will instantly take your look from day to night. Opt for a long-wear foundation and mascara during the day, then, just before leaving work create a cat-flick effect with gel eyeliner, pop on a slick of rich red lipstick, and apply pressed powder for that photo ready look.

Transitional Style

Spring has opened up the wardrobe palette to include pastels and patterns. Even better is the fact us ladies can finally trade those cable knit jumpers in for feminine shift blouses. The matching top and trouser trend is in for spring and is the perfect combination to take you from the office to the cocktail bar. Dress the look down for work with loafers and a cardigan then come the evening swap the sensible shoes for heels and add a couple of glamorous accessories such as these Silver and Rose Gold Earrings. Complete the look with a neutral coloured bag like the Fiorelli Paris which is large enough to store all those beauty essentials mentioned earlier. Voila!

Fiorelli HQ Style: Sophie

We know that you love discovering our styles just as much as you like sharing your own, and this week, it’s the turn of our Marketing Co-ordinator Sophie Rice to show you her Fiorelli HQ style!

Sophie explains that because she’s quite tall, her bag of choice is always a crossbody as it’s easy to wear, and also hates opting for a large bag as it just gets filled with useless stuff! Here, she’s chosen the Perry crossbody in white and teamed it with a black leather dress, which combined adds towards that timeless monochrome look. She’s completed her outfit with a pair of plimsolls that gives an otherwise smart look a casual edge.

And because we thought that you’d like to discover a little bit more about Sophie’s fashion influences, we asked her a couple of questions just for you!

Tell us about your style?
Comfort always plays a big role in what I choose to wear, so, you can often find me in loose clothing, skinny jeans, and plimsolls are my go-to, as my job often involves a lot of running around London for things like photo shoots or meetings with different magazines.

Favourite style icon?
My main style icons have to be Kate Bosworth because she always looks effortlessly cool. I love Blake Lively’s red carpet looks, as she’s always well groomed without looking too try hard. I once read that she doesn’t have a stylist either, and I really admire that she creates such amazing looks all by herself.

Other fashion inspirations?
My other inspirations come from a mixture of fashion bloggers and editors. I avidly follow The Elgin Avenue blog, - Monica is my friend from back home, and I’ve always loved her style.  @Sincerelyjules is one Instagram account that I always have to check for updates for outfit inspiration. She has a great way of just throwing looks together yet still looking stylish. I aspire to be more creative with my style just like Miroslava Duma of Buro 24/7, and during Paris Fashion Week, I was hooked on checking the outfit updates from Christine Centenera, the Fashion Editor at Vogue Australia.

Favourite trends?
This season, I’ll be wearing printed plimsolls, and I love the cobalt blue that was all over the runways and has now started to pop up on the high street. It’s probably most similar to the blue tones upon our cobalt black or cornflower blue Harper shoulders. For A/W14, I’m looking forward to the texture contrast trend, and this is also something that will be influencing some of our range next season. You’ll have to wait and see!

If you’d like to steal Sophie’s style, you can get the look right here:

And don't forget, we still want to see your #FiorelliStyle too, so, share your stylish photos with us on Instagram or Twitter @Fiorelli_Bags.

European Style: London, Paris and Amsterdam

Long weekends in Amsterdam, mid-week breaks to Paris, Easter treats in London…Yes you’ve guessed it, mini-break season is upon us. Planning a Euro trip this spring? Dress for the occasion with our special European fashion style guide.

Image Sources: Top, Jeans, Fedora, Bag

Paris fashion is all about simplicity. Get set for the city of love by filling your suitcase with floppy fedoras, Breton striped tees, skinny jeans and a stylish pair of ballet pumps. The aptly named Fiorelli Paris tote is the ideal designer accessory to carry you through your trip and is roomy enough to double up as hand luggage.

Top travel tip: Take a trip to Laduree to sample the best macaroons around. They’ll melt in your mouth!

Image Sources: Bag, Shoes, Skirt, Sunglasses, Camisole

Embrace your bohemian side with free-flowing midi skirts, pops of colour and retro sunglasses when in Amsterdam. Dutch fashion focuses on experimentation, there’s a real youth culture vibe about the city and wandering around you’ll be sure to find creative ensembles at every turn. This red and black outfit is free spirited and on-trend without being excessive.

Top travel tip: Why not stay somewhere unique when in Amsterdam? It’s not unusual to rent houseboats, artist studios or even lighthouses for a snip of the price you’d pay for a luxury hotel. Take a look at Airbnb to see what’s available.

Image Sources: Top, Trousers, Bag

Take a break from Tripadvisor and let your sense of adventure guide you around the streets of London this spring. Gingham is a strong trend focus this spring but can sometimes look overdone in dress form. Channel this London style trend with a sleeveless shift top and pair with feminine pastel coloured skinnies. Add a coat, statement necklace and bring the look together with the Fiorelli Reagan tote in Monochrome.

Top travel tip: Not a seasoned Londoner? Download the Tube Map app so that if you do get lost, you’ll be able to find your way back to the hotel without hassle.

Off on a mini-break this spring? Tweet us your Euro style looks @Fiorelli_Bags. And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with the latest Fiorelli style news.

Trend: Bold Brights for Spring

It's official, spring has sprung and at Fiorelli HQ, we've been celebrating with bright, bold colours. So, we were delighted when Very felt the same in their latest advert, "Bring the Colour" - can you spot our very own Harper Mini as the star of the ad:

We've put together some of our favourite colourful outfits for a statement colour on colour, showcasing how this trend works for any occasion:

Glamourous Girls Night Out

Our Harper Mini in Limeade is great paired with a maxi dress in cobalt blue or pink to make a real impact. Why not match a strappy yellow sandal or add a statement heel for that final flourish.

Office Style

Our Kenzie Tote is the perfect bag for work and play and now comes in this sumptuous red for Spring/Summer. We'd wear it with this mint green dress and red pointy flats for an on trend Summer work look. Mix it up for after work drinks with our pink Dixie Clutch and some cobalt heels.

Brunch with the Girls

For a casual yet chic look with love this skater dress with our Harper Mini - this time in cobalt blue. Add a contrast of yellow with our lime Harper purse, our neon yellow crystal bib necklace and these cute midi heels for an unmissable style statement.

Do you dare to wear the bright and bold? Send us your colour blocking outfits with #FiorelliStyle via Twitter and Instagram @Fiorelli_Bags.

#FiorelliTravels: We Explore Fiorelli's Roots in Australia

As you know, our head designer Lisa loves to share her #FiorelliTravels with you, and as you've probably also guessed, she’s not the only member of the Fiorelli team that gets the opportunity to travel far and wide!

Our lovely Marketing Coordinator, Sophie Rice recently went back to Fiorelli’s roots as she evoked upon an amazing trip around Australia. And she couldn't wait to share her holiday snaps with you so that you can explore Fiorelli’s heritage too!

She started her trip in Melbourne with a spot of sightseeing and fulfilled her shopping fix in its many arcades. There is also a host of cafes and restaurants to choose from, which are perfect for taking a rest in between shops. The selection of cakes in the Hopetoun tea rooms located in the Block arcade leaves you spoilt for choice!

Shopping isn't everything though when you’re visiting a different country, and you have to take the opportunity to explore, so, Sophie opted for a road trip from Melbourne along Great Ocean Road to soak up the scenery

A ferry to Sydney's beautiful suburb Manly, and a wander around some National Parks later, and it was off to the centre of Sydney to discover some more of OZ. Sydney's Taronga zoo or aquarium are a must for spotting more Koala bears and exotic marine life.

And of course, you can’t visit Sydney without taking a snap of its iconic Opera House in the harbour. And you have to agree that Australia’s beautiful clear skies and hot weather make returning to a rainy London pretty depressing!

Have you ever visited Fiorelli’s origins’ Australia? Why not share your travel photos with us on Twitter or Instagram? We’d love to see!
