Summer Cocktail Inspiration

The current weather isn’t exactly screaming summer cocktails just yet but with another May bank holiday happening in just a matter of days, it’s perfect for experimenting with a little mixology. So, we’ve picked a few of our favourite cocktail recipes to share and advise you to always drink responsibly no matter how yummy they are!

Cucumber Lime Margaritas

We all love a Margarita but there’s no denying that they’re not the most waist friendly of cocktails, that’s why we especially love our skinny cucumber version. The cucumber taste means that there’s no need to add in any sugar.

Peel 2 cucumbers and pop them into your blender until it mixes into a thick juice, then separate the pulp from the juice with a strainer. Take a small (around 8 ounce glass) fill with ice and pour over 1 ½ ounces of silver tequila, 1 ½ ounces of fresh lime juice and 3 ounces of the cucumber juice. Make it look pretty with a few slices of cucumber garnish.

Strawberry Gin Smash

As more and more gin gardens are set to open up across the UK this summer, why not nail the trend ahead of the wave and try out our delicious strawberry gin cocktail recipe for yourself?

To serve around 8 people, simply mix 2 tablespoons of sugar with 4 tablespoons of lime juice in a large pitcher, then slit the tips of 8 small strawberries and roll them gently in the juice for a few minutes. Pour in 2 cups of gin and 3 cups of soda, then add ice cubes and garnish to taste with a few sprigs of mint.

Bourbon Peach Sweet Tea

If you’re a big tea fan, then make this recipe your go-to cocktail of choice. Take a quirky jar, mix together 2 ounces of peach preserves with 2 ounces of Bourbon, a dash of Aperol, 1 ounce of lemon juice, and pour over some ice. Fill to the top with some sweet tea and garnish with a lemon round and a sprig of thyme.

The Easy Summer Cocktails you HAVE to Try

From weekend exploring to dining al fresco, everything is so much better in the summer. So, invite your friends over and try your hand at making these easy summer cocktails! It’s the summer edition of Fiorelli’s favourite cocktails.

Sweet and Sour Cherry Fizzers

Cherries are so rich and delicious, but they’re tricky to get hold of during the colder months of the year. That’s why when summer rolls around we like to have a stash of them to enjoy in puddings, salads and of course, drinks. They look so stylish perched on the top of a glass, too.

This cherry-infused cocktail is so refreshing and the lemon gives the drink a kick of bitterness. Serve with black forest mini puddings and slow roast tomato tatins.

Ingredients:
-2 vodka shots
-1 squeeze of lemon
-Cherry syrup
-Soda water
-Fresh basil garnish
-Jam Jars
-Ice

Method:
Place a couple of ice-cubes in the jam jar and add the vodka, lemon juice and cherry syrup. If you can’t get hold of cherry syrup you can just crush up a bunch of cherries with a mortar and pestle or blitz them in a food processor and add to the drink. Fill the glass with soda water and arrange a lemon wedge, basil leaf and cherry on top for effect. Voila!

Watermelon Coolers

Watermelon is the perfect summer fruit; it’s packed with antioxidants, keeps you hydrated and looks amazing too. This cocktail is ideal for the health conscious drinkers out there and you could even omit the alcohol if you feel like being extra good. The mixture of lime, honey and mint juxtaposed with subtle watermelon gives the summer drink a tangy zest. It’s impossible to just have one.

Ingredients:
- Mint sprigs
- 12 watermelon cubes
- 1 tbsp Honey
- 1 Lime
- 1 shot of gin
- Cucumber garnish
- Ice

Method:
Blitz the watermelon cubes in a blender and transfer to a large jug. Squeeze in a large tablespoon of honey, the juice of a lime and a good handful of fresh mint. Add as much gin as you desire and garnish with cucumber. Serve with ice. Summer in a glass.
