Behind The Scenes of the Winter 2011 Shoot

As our glamorous winter collection launches, we thought we would treat you to an exclusive look at our amazing photo shoot! Way back in March we packed up our favourite samples from the collection and made our way to the top of the Central Line to Essex!

After a short taxi ride, we were greeted by an astonishingly beautiful house, set in stunning grounds. As we drove closer to the house it became apparent that despite its grand exterior, it was in fact, in a state of disrepair. Built in 1750, within 3000 acres of land, the house was one of the finest of its time, hosting many a grand party and sleeping some of the wealthiest people in the country. We can only begin to imagine some of the riches those walls have seen! Devastatingly, the house was destroyed by a fire in 1917, leaving it unoccupied since then. The story behind this amazing set worked perfectly with the theme of our shoot, which encompassed the story of a downtrodden countess, who, having lived a life of luxury, suddenly finds herself in a situation without her riches. Unable to let go of her past life, she now encompasses a life of rich vs. poor, and carries a downtrodden-glamour look of luxury dresses teamed with casual tweed jackets.

Bling-tastic!

This look of casual vs. luxe supported our new collection of bags perfectly; rich fur detailing and oversized gems adorning casual every day shapes alongside simple, vintage inspired shapes.
After hair and makeup were completed (in a freezing room in the old house!), we went exploring the grounds to find the perfect setting for our different shots. It’s fair to say we were spoilt for choice! The mature grounds set the scene perfectly, hinting at a gloomy secret garden atmosphere.

The staff at the house were a definite highlight of the day. Not only did they give us a full tour of the house and grounds, they also treated us to delicious food and drink, even bringing us afternoon tea in a wheelbarrow!

Who's for cake?

We are so pleased with this shoot, it really compliments our winter collection, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome!
